Biography:
The only thing more infectious than Micky D's music
is his ever-present megawatt grin. One of Sydney's
favourite DJs, a night with Micky is guaranteed to
be a night of fun
especially if you like it
hard and fast!
Micky's style is hard house, hard trance and NRG.
His sets are as banging as they are uplifting, combining
the driving energy of hard house with the shivers-up-your-back
melodies of trance. Influenced by Djing giants like
Nick Sentience, Phil Reynolds, Paul Galazby, Kevin
Energy, Jon Doe and Scot Project, clubbers can expect
to go off to big build-ups and explosive breaks that
have you waving those hands and charging on the dance
floor like never before!
Storming onto the Sydney club scene over four years
ago, Micky's technical skill and awesome tune selection
is renowned among the clubbing connoisseurs. Meanwhile,
his addictive, energetic sound and upbeat personality
behind the decks continually manage to fire up newcomers
to the scene, getting them jumping up and down, smiling
from ear to ear and coming back for more.
At the forefront of the current push towards harder
dance music in Sydney, Micky is in his element at
club nights like Frantic, where he's supported the
likes of Phil Reynolds, LAB4 and Madam Friction, and
his regular Friday night sets at Evolve@Bay 33. You'll
also find him in funky NRG mode at his current Saturday
night residency at Passion@NV.
Micky started DJing in 1994, mixing up '80s funk,
R'n'B and commercial dance at house parties and small
suburban clubs. He went on to gain a following playing
happy hard and old rave anthems at underground warehouse
parties.
Voted one of Sydney's best up and comers of 1998,
he scored his first city residence at the Millennium
Room playing funky, NRG and trance. Since then Micky's
career has skyrocketed, landing him guest spots and
residencies at virtually every big-name venue in Sydney,
including Gas, Home, DCM, NV, Blackmarket, Bay 33
and Icebox.
The word on Micky is rapidly spreading across the
borders and in the last two years, he has toured interstate
to play to frenzied crowds at parties like Generator
in Melbourne and Sun Dance in Queensland. He's also
been in demand on the radio circuit, playing live
mix-ups on radio stations around the country.
Until recently, Micky was also a familiar face at
top Sydney record shop One Stop Dee Jay, where his
position as store manager kept him at the cutting
edge of all the latest music and industry developments.
The next step for Micky is to get in the studio with
some young, talented artists and begin producing his
own music. You can be sure it'll be mind-blowing so
keep your eyes and ears out for new and exciting projects
from DJ and soon-to-be producer Micky D.
Reviews:
"Preceding LAB4's ingenious set was the effervescent
music of Micky D. Waves of pure pleasurable sounds
settled their damp and twisted paws into the crowd
and curdled the minds of every blemished soul."

"And last, but definitely not least, an amazing
set from Micky D of the Blackmarket. Full of energy
and sweat, making the crowd scream for one more."
